Heroes Comics & Gaming

A side game for the Eldritch Isles Dungeons & Dragons Multiverse. We have a full party for this one, but there will be more in the future.

Below is the setup. We’ll start the game picking up right where the setup ends.

The coal-red sun lingers on the horizon as you climb the spiraling tower stairs toward the manse of Magister Euroven. The immensely wealthy master of guilds has summoned your party for an audience. Not one to displease one of the most powerful men in the city and with daydreams of rubies spilling into your pouches, you have agreed to meet with the magister and see what proposition he has for you.

The Euroven manse is as opulent as they come; marble statues trimmed in silver, tiled mosaic floors of lapis lazuli, emerald-adorned friezes of ships sailing the isles, etc. It is also heavily guarded with soldiers at intersections and roving the grounds. As you ascend the final stairs toward the audience chamber of Magister Euroven, the walls open up to a vista overlooking Izuz. From here, the city’s look is a far cry from the smog-filled alleyways at the bottom tier of the city.

Two massive, bronze doors are opened by armored sentinels to a circular chamber with a very tall ceiling. The evening rays of sun enter through blown glass windows and illuminate the chamber. A thin, almost gaunt man dressed in satin and velvet, with a simple, platinum circlet stands in the center of the chamber; a powerful-looking, dark-skinned warrior, clearly a guardian, beside him. The magister’s voice is sonorous despite his lean frame.

“Welcome. Do you know of Qaat?” He gives you no time to answer. It’s rhetorical. “I thought not. They call it the Isle of the Necromancers, at the far side of the sea across the sea-stream, the Black River. I offer you employment. A simple task, really. A box need be delivered to an associate in Zul-Kha-Nair and I need escorts willing to see that it is. The pay is excellent but you must leave at once.”

Magister Euroven gives you no time for inquisition. He merely presumes your agreement. He turns to his guardian and says, “Farak, show them to the ship.” Then, he begins walking away. As he does so, he begins to fade away until he vanishes entirely.

Farak quietly leads you from the manse and down to the wharf where a simple-looking ship awaits you. A few men struggle to push a cart up the gangplank. Something heavy sits atop the cart, concealed by a draped canvas; it is the box.
