Meet a Board Member:

Karyssa Creager

Vice President, Nerd Louisville

  • What’s your day-walker job? (What do you do when you’re not helping Nerd Louisville take over the world?)
      • Certified Social Worker that specializes in psychosocial oncology.
  • What made you interested in Nerd Louisville?
      • I remember when I was brand new to TTRPGs in general just a few years ago. I started attending Slur to learn about different systems and meet other nerds in the area.
  • How did your nerd origin story begin? (What first got you into nerdy things?)
      • I was in band throughout middle and high school. I tried to get into MTG but no one at my school played at the time. I was introduced to D&D by our president, Jonathan Myhre, and I’ve been rolling shiny math rocks with my friends ever since!
  • If you had a superhero alias, what would it be and what’s your power?
      • My superpower dream power would be to heal people of any illness/disease through cooking like Mirabel’s mother in Encanto. My superhero name would be The Alchemic Chef.
  • What’s your all-time favorite tabletop RPG, and why?
      • My favorite TTRPG would have to be Paranoia. It’s a game of ever evolving rules and chaos. It fills my need for mischief 😉 and is so much fun to run as a GM.
  • You can game with any fictional character—who’s at your table and what are you playing?
      • Reid from Criminal minds and we would play Candela Obscura.
  • What’s your go-to board game for a game night?
      • Ticket to Ride, hands down.
  • If you could live in any sci-fi or fantasy universe, where would you go?
      • I would live in the Harry Potter universe. #GoHufflepuffs!
  • What’s a book, show, or movie that had the biggest impact on your nerd journey?
      • Star Wars. I finally saw all the movies about 2 years ago and it has inspired many characters and future scenarios for games that I run.
  • What’s the best RPG session or campaign moment you’ve ever had?
      • In my current D&D campaign my character unleashed the goddess of evil in a broom closet and then she continued to haunt me for over a year.
  • What’s your alignment? (And does it match your real-life personality?)
      • Chaotic Neutral (or chaotic stupid depending on who you ask lolz)
  • What’s the nerdiest thing you’ve ever done?
      • Started taking time off work to run games at conventions.
  • If you could recommend one nerdy Louisville spot, what would it be?
    • I would def recommend Otaku Manga Lounge. When I’m not running games I love to read manga and Otaku has so many titles and other nerdy accessories.

Thank You for Giving!

We want to send a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Slur Your Role 156 and supported Family Emergency Food Relief! Your generosity helped provide more than $150 worth of groceries and essential goods to those in need, making a real impact in our community. Because of you, we were able to donate everything to Cardinal Cupboard, ensuring these resources reach families facing hardship.

A special shoutout to those who brought extra donations and participated in the raffle, your kindness and support never go unnoticed! Events like these remind us that the Nerd Louisville community is not just about games, but about coming together to make a difference.
