Game Master Recruitment: DeSales High School Immersion Week

Nerd Louisville is thrilled to partner with DeSales High School for their “Immersion Week” event, Geek Out, on March 26th or 27th, 2025. This is a one-day opportunity to share your passion for tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) with high school students. Through this initiative, you’ll introduce a new generation to the joys of collaborative storytelling and adventure while promoting Nerd Louisville’s mission to foster community and creativity.

Event Details:

  • Date: Tentatively March 26th or March 27th, 2025.
  • Location: DeSales High School.
  • Purpose: Run beginner-friendly TTRPG sessions and present participating students with donated basic TTRPG equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Run one TTRPG session (approximately 2–3 hours) for selected students.
  • Use Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition) as the default game system, tailoring the experience to be age-appropriate and engaging.
  • Craft a narrative free of dark or sensitive themes, ensuring the session is accessible and fun for all participants.
  • Showcase the depth of TTRPGs within the limited session time.
  • Follow Nerd Louisville’s Code of Conduct & Anti-Harassment Policy to maintain a welcoming and respectful environment.
  • Submit a brief session synopsis for review and approval before the event.
  • Help distribute donated TTRPG equipment to participating students as part of the event’s conclusion.

Perks of Volunteering:

  • A receipt for your time to support employer volunteer programs (where applicable).
  • A Nerd Louisville branded t-shirt as a thank-you gift.
  • Free admission for two to our annual tabletop gaming convention in 2025 (final event name TBA)—or, alternatively, a TTRPG book (up to $50 value) as a thank-you.

This event is a fantastic way to give back to the community, share your love for gaming, and inspire the next wave of Louisville nerds. Join us to make this day unforgettable for the students at DeSales High School!
