The Game’s Afoot (Rivers of London)
Ran by Arthur Thacker
Level: Beginner, Level 1
Characters: Pregens provided or BYOC
Description:There has been much ado at the Sherlock Holmes Pub, with punters describing strange goings on and frightening encounters with eldritch entities. And the beer’s gone off. Normally a tacky stop on a bunch of sketchy London tours, where the most exciting event is watching American and Japanese tourists overpay for microwaved meat pies, there may actually be something supernatural happening this time. The Met, in an overabundance of caution, or just a typical amount of malingering, has kicked the case to the Folly–the sub-unit of the police in charge of “weird bollocks.” You have been attached to the Folly in an adjunct capacity, and because of the conspicuous absence of PC Peter Grant and CI Nightingale, you are tasked to the investigation. Briefing at the Folly at 0900 sharpish!
Rivers of London is a fantasy game set in Ben Aaronovitch’s modern London. There are a bunch of novels, but the gist is that magic is real, was codified by Isaac Newton, and causes problems for regular folk whether they know about it or not. The police have a special unit to deal with these problems. Player characters take on the roles of police constables or special consultants to investigate and deal with these events. There are supernatural elements, but certainly nothing more triggering than a typical game of D&D or Call of Cthulhu (it is a Chaosium game with similar mechanics as CoC).

Secrets of the Unlit Star (Pathfinder 2e)

You’re only hope for salvation lies in solving ancient mysteries, negotiating with strange inhabitants, and recovering the eight missing fragments of a shattered relic known as the Unlit Star before the shadows consume you completely.
